Ca2+ transfer from endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to mitochondria at contact sites between the
organelles can induce mitochondrial dysfunction and programmed cell death after stress.
The ER-localized chaperone glucose-regulated protein 78kDa (GRP78/BiP) protects
