Drugs are effective only if they reach their site of action. This is usually achieved by oral
administration, but other routes are possible. Here I describe the uses and characteristic
adverse effects of commonly used routes of administration. In this part I deal with
intramuscular and subcutaneous injection and in part 2 other routes.
